While you wait for your emergency appointment, here are some tips to manage your situation:
- Toothache: Rinse your mouth with warm salt water, apply a cold compress to the area, and take over-the-counter pain medication as directed.
- Chipped or broken tooth: Save any broken pieces, rinse your mouth with warm water, and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.
- Knocked-out tooth: Gently rinse the tooth with water (do not scrub or touch the root), and try to place it back in the socket. If that's not possible, store the tooth in milk or saliva and bring it with you to your appointment.
- Lost filling or crown: Apply clove oil to the affected area for temporary relief, and avoid chewing on that side of your mouth.
